New favorite shirt

Couldn't resist posting this beauty! From F21, has legit shoulder pads and sequined shoulders as well. The bracelet was also a gift, vintage. Love it! Reminds of the all that Chanel jade jewellery.

Earrings are from Aldo, have great love for them as well.

Early Christmas

Just opened some Christmas presents early, and got some pretty sweet new headgear. Also hit up Aldo today... spent WAY too much on shoes and handbags, but hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

Super casual outfit post

I went thrifting with Fashion on Edge today, and lucky her, she found a Christian Lacroix floor length dress! So cute! Anyways, today was the perfect day to debut my new wedges, so I paired them with leather leggings from Aritzia, and this thirfted blazer/cardigan thingy. Pretty stoked on my finds as well: A limey-safari green pleated United Colors of Bennetton skirt and new sunnies.

Aren't they GORGEOUS!?!?!?

Oh my god..

I am DYING over these shoes! Can't get enough of them, and I wish the weather wasn't so crappy right now, and I could wear them everywhere. I feel like an amazon woman in them. I towered over everyone at work today. My friend was desperate to try them on, and low and behold, was wearing some neon green socks. Thought they looked in a weird way very cool.

Had to snap some pics!

Six months...

Never really been the type of person to say "Oh I wish it was this season or that season"

But I'm really missing summer right about now. Maxi dresses and iced americanos!

Anyways, here's a weird collage of random looks from SS2010 RTW that I enjoyed. Don't tell me I already know I'm awful at photoshop

Sweet deal!

Just headed over to weardrobe to post a look and realized i'd been featured! Thanks weardrobe! This is the second time, the first being the first look I ever posted, endless summer.

This just made my night!

And now I really will go to bed. Gotta get up early and tackle that closet.

Oh my...

Started tidying my room a bit. Suffice to say, I would be able to not do laundry for probably a good solid two years and still have enough clothes to wear a new outfit everyday. And all said clothes are currently on my bedroom floor. I would never NEVER get rid of any of them, but something must be done. My current closet situtation is not working for me. Needs to better organized and maintained by myself. Not enough shoe storage either, as you can well imagine. I want to pull an all nighter with this one, but that's stupid because I have work tomorrow.

Must... plan... new... clothes filing system??

If any of you have any tips or tricks you'd like to share, please do. I'm neck deep in cardigans.

Outfit Post

Yesterday's outfit. Boring/Practical. Picked up this sweater/cardigan from UB last year, and I wear it so much! Have worn it long and undone, casually knotted, as a wrap top, and belted like the picture. Great piece. Random shirt, skull rosary again, and my favourite boots.

Work is really hectic this week. Gonna try and update on Wednesday, if not before.

Night!

One more before I go

Before I go to bed, and possibly BECOME my work ( that is for another post entirely. I work too much.) just wanted to share this song. Dunno how apple does it; always got the next best tune!

QUICK OUTFIT POST

Another boring work outfit, but you gotta do what you gotta do. The next two/three weeks are going to be CRAZY busy for me, I'm going to try and update as much as possible. But don't worry, you'll see PLENTY OF ME in Janurary.

Question

Just a quick question; I was checking out what browsers you guys use, and I see the majority is Internet Explorer. Don't EVEN get my started on why you shouldn't be using that medieval torture device of a browser, but anyways, does the blog look okay? I have no idea, I use Opera, which is probably the lesser of two evils, between it and Firefox.

Enough techno-babble.

Shoot me an email if you're having difficulties: maisondechaussures@live.ca

Work day

Another boring work day, but at least I remebered to bring my camera along! The only place to take a picture properly without being gawked at by people is on this little dock by the side of the river.

Anyways, to the outfit. Simple black dress pants, wide leg, cuffed at the bottom. Simple pointy toed black patent heels, very comfortable, my don't mess with me shoes. Not so simple turtle neck. It's actually really cool, it has cut-outs in the back and has a bunch of twisting and binding that reminds me of the SS10 Burberry Prorsum show. The twisting detail was fantastic. I have fallen pretty hard for the legging/pant things. I wonder if you could DIY it somehow? I saw a pretty sweet DIY of the skirts, very simply way to do it too, for the sewing impaired like me.

Anyways,

Inspiration:

Photobucket

Seriously! Those pants kill me!

Actual look:

Photobucket

I didn't get a good picture of the back detail because well, there were bra issues, and I just can't be walking around without a bra can I? And it was black, so.. you know... I didn't look TOO awful, although I'm sure it's like a huge faux pas, but it's work so, no biggie?

You can see why

Thought I'd post a few comparisons between Aldo shoes and the luxary brands. Now, I know some people feel that it's wrong for companies like Aldo and Steve Madden to "knock-off" these shoe designs, but I have to say, not all of us have thousands of dollars to spend on luxary shoes. These companies produce a fine quality product at a reasonable price. It's not realistic to expect people to spend $1500 on a pair of studded sandals, and why should you, when you obviously couldn't anyways, when you can get a pair for $135? Givenchy and Alexander McQueen aren't losing any money, because the people who buy the knock-offs couldn't even afford the real thing. So in conclusion, I don't see what all the fuss is about. They're nice shoes, nice price. And most of them will be out of season next year anyways, so I feel better about spending $50 on them rather than $500.

Edit: I'd like to add as well, If I *did* have money to spend on designer shoes, I would, but obviously a $900 pair of YSL shoes is just way, WAY out of my price range. Would rather eat and have heat thanks.

19th birthday

So my 19th is fast approaching ( well not really... still have three months to go but...) and I've started looking for the prefect dress. A few options:

dress from Forever 21

dress from BCBG

Then of course, the major dilemma, what shoes!?!? I feel like I've been collecting them for ages, just for this moment!

Gilding the lily

So, I went Christmas shopping this afternoon, and fully intented to buy only for others, but how could I resist these beautiful rings at Forever 21? And the price, I must say, was amazing!

Love them seperate, love them together!

As promised, here are some more detailed shots of the coat. When I saw it, as well as this navy dress, I instantly wanted to put them together to re-create this classic Carrie Bradshaw look:

I love this outfit so much! If I haven't told you, and you haven't figured it out, I LOVE velvet. It's my favorite fabric. So imagine my delight when I found a velvet dress in my favorite colour (navy) to go with my coat!

Bad, bad day

And it started off so promising! Got to snap these outfit pictures before I left, was still riding high of my AMAZING find from the other day, and somehow, work drama manages to mess it all up. I still don't understand how some people can walk and talk at the same time with the crap they pull.

Anyways, todays outfit:

Just another day at work, another boring outfit. If you can't tell, working takes up quite alot of my time, but at least it's an excuse to get dressed up at some point. I got these pants at Zara, ages ago, I think in August? Anyways, I love pairing them with white and black, and the rosary w/skulls gives it some edge that I really don't have.

Also... I bought the shoes. Who could resist? $37??

Thrifted pocket tank, Thrifted vest blazer, Zara snakeskin pants, Aldo boots, Aldo skull rosary

Hollaaa!

Quick question before bed, should I grab these shoes tomorrow? They're gorgeous, and super cheap, but I do have so many shoes....

Also, feel free to comment/shoot me an email@ maisondechaussures@live.ca

I'd love to hear from you guys!

Photoshop, amoung other things

So, for the longest time I've been w/o photoshop, which basically makes my life a whole lot more difficult, simply because, when I want to edit a set of photos, of various shots of my same outfit, obviously I want them to look the same, and not have the curves and levels be wonky in different photographs, it ruins the story of the photo set. So, I was using picnik, which I must say, is pretty great for single shots, and over editing and banners, but for minor colour and contrast adjustments to several photos, photoshop/lightroom is great.

The only downside is trying to make your own vingettes. Fuck smart objects.

Anyways, today was a hellish day at work, so mind the hair/sloppy outfit. Managed to take some photos on my break, hasn't been getting too dark around 4ish.

Goin' thriftin'

Woke up EXTRA early today to do some thrifting. Me before an americano misto = super basic/casual outfit. Super comfy though, this cardigan is AMAZING. It's one size fits all, and SO SO warm. If it had longer sleeves I could use it as a coat! I'll post my finds later today, found some pretty sweet stuff.
